The Amigo Project matches volunteers with people who require support to move forward on their journey of recovery from mental health issues. They will help them make connections with local community activities whilst helping them to boost their confidence and motivation.
Our volunteers will be expected to:
Attend in-house training sessions which will include mental health awareness, how to be a great buddy, boundaries and safeguarding
Provide one to one support to people looking to increase confidence and emotional wellbeing
Attend meetings/activities with people as agreed
Feedback to the Amigo project managers
A keen interest in promoting the recovery of people affected by mental ill health
Non-judgemental and supportive manner when supporting people
A basic understanding of mental health and wellbeing
Empathetic and warm approach
IT – access to the internet/email and Microsoft Word
Volunteers will receive an induction, training and ongoing supervision. Volunteers are subject to a DBS check at an enhanced level.
