Voluntary Support North Surrey

It is perhaps one of the most unlikely yet enduring features of a town some say is struggling, like many urban centres, to maintain its heritage.

Chertsey, based in the heart of Surrey’s Runnymede Borough, is a town bordered by Thorpe Park, the M25 and Addlestone, yet definitely holds a strong community identity that is all its own. A town with history ranging from its medieval Anglican church to its 18th Century pedestrian bridge, Chertsey is a beautiful place to live with multiple excellent volunteering opportunities to involve you in the community. Chertsey is also an excellent location for local businesses to form corporate partnerships with charities due to its growing office sector. Age UK Runnymede and Spelthorne bases itself in Chertsey and is an organisation which is always looking for volunteers to help elderly people in their day to day lives, prevent loneliness and make friends. Combined with this, Chertsey Good Neighbours carry out a community binding service looking for volunteers to befriend, drive and do other services for neighbours who are in need, usually elderly neighbours. The Recrodis Social Club also looks to aid the elderly and disabled in the area and offers voluntary assistance to those with disabilities, who are frail or simply lonely. Other wider regional volunteering options are also available, such as British Red Cross and Shooting Star CHASE, which help global crises and provide and improve children’s hospices throughout the country respectively. So if you want to volunteer in Chertsey there are volunteering opportunities for you not only to further yourself, but also your community.
