Close to one of the nation’s favourite theme parks in Thorpe, Egham is a town which predates 666AD and is dowsed in history. Volunteering in Egham is a great way to further your work experience and in turn add to your employability through the wide range of voluntary opportunities on offer, ranging from working with the Egham Hollowegians rugby club, who are looking for volunteer rugby coaches and first aiders to work with young and old players, to the annual Egham Royal Show, an agricultural and horticultural show which celebrates those key aspects of British history. There is also Shooting Star CHASE in the area, who are looking for volunteers willing to collect cans and fundraise in the area in order to further their organisation of being a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life limiting conditions. Perhaps one of the largest volunteering bodies in the area is the Royal Holloway University’s Community Action Volunteering, a huge student volunteering organisation which has projects in a many different areas, whether that be disability help, volunteering with the elderly or youth and kids or working with animals. For students looking to do charity work in the area, this is the place to go! So if you want to volunteer in Egham, this is a vibrant community which will become ever stronger with continuous volunteering, giving help to the many different organisations that the town has within its borders.

It is perhaps one of the most unlikely yet enduring features of a town some say is struggling, like many urban centres, to maintain its heritage.
