Voluntary Support North Surrey

It is perhaps one of the most unlikely yet enduring features of a town some say is struggling, like many urban centres, to maintain its heritage.

The village of Lyne in Surrey is very close to Chertsey, yet a wonderful place in its own right. Home to Almners Priory and Hardwick Court Barn, attractive 17th Century buildings, the village is a location with plenty to offer. The surrounding areas of Lyne hold many different volunteering opportunities in which anyone can help the community and get involved. Age UK Runnymede and Spelthorne bases itself in Chertsey and is an organisation which is always looking for volunteers to help elderly people in their day to day lives, prevent loneliness and make friends, whilst there are other wider regional volunteering options are also close to Lyne, such as British Red Cross and Shooting Star CHASE. The British Red Cross, as is widely documented, are one of the biggest charities in the country who address global crises and fundraise to help, such as the Haitian earthquake, or the Boxing day Tsunami. Shooting Star CHASE work on a more local level, looking to support and further the ability and function of children and youth hospices. Merlewood Care Home in Virginia Water is also an excellent chance for voluntary work for those living in Lyne as they are always looking for helpers, whether that be on trips and outings or general help around the care home. So if you want to volunteer in Lyne, whilst small there are many volunteering opportunities around it.
