Tuesday 5th September is celebrate International Day of Charity, dedicated to recognising the contribution of charities of all sizes worldwide. Our CEO Solette Sheppardson writes about why this day is significant:

“We know that small charities in particular are the backbone of local communities. These organisations are driven by a passion for their causes and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those they serve.

“Small charities can often respond quickly to the unique needs of their communities. Whether it’s providing emergency food for the hungry or support for vulnerable individuals, small charities are often at the forefront of tackling the most pressing local issues. Deeply embedded in their communities, they  build strong relationships, fostering connections and trust.

“International Day of Charity is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the vital work of these keystone organisations. By sharing their stories and successes and in our communities, we can inspire others to get involved and support them. Whether it’s through volunteering, fundraising, or making a donation, every contribution can make a meaningful impact.”
