Do you have financial skills and enthusiasm to help an organisation that supports families of young children?

If so, you could be the next treasurer for Home-Start Surrey Heath and help drive our vision.

We are looking for a Treasurer to join our board to help guide our charity and contribute to leadership and direction - ideally experienced in strategic planning, communications, marketing and service development within the charity sector, but not essential.

Established in 1989 Home-Start Surrey Heath supports families with children under 5. We are an independent charity, and although associated with Home-Start UK, our trustees independently govern our direction and manage our finances. As the cost of living crisis impacts on families we're needed more than ever.

Our expenditure in 2023/24 will be in the region of £88k so we're a small charity with a big impact.

About us https://home-startsurreyheath.org.uk/about-us/

Full induction will be provided, plus specialist support as a new trustee.

We are looking for fresh expertise and experience from a variety of backgrounds to our charity. We want to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups.

The focus of a trustee role is strategic and trustees will not be expected to get involved in the day-to-day operations, however contact and liaison with other trustees and employees is expected.

We ask for about ten hours of your time each month which includes all meetings, discussions etc. You will need access to digital communications as much of our charity's business is run that way.

What skills do I need?

  • Financial management skills, knowledge, understanding or experience
  • Ability to influence plans for our charity’s future
  • Be an enhancement to our overall governance and the Board of trustees; improvement in our charity governance and operational growth
  • Ability to participate in our collective decision-making, contributing to all areas of our charity work
  • Enthusiasm & team skills
